曾有6年任教于美国康涅狄格州的顶尖公立高中Joel Barlow High School的经历。并拥有10年以上SAT、ACT、GRE和LSAT教学经验。
At Barlow, Mr. Matthews discovered that teaching high school students was not so much about the facts of history, but more about teaching students to think critically about their world. Today, people often say that we have all of the information in the world at our fingertips through the Internet. In fact, while that is true, it is now more important than ever for students to learn to be discerning consumers of all that information. Education today has to be about more than providing students with information. As a result, Mr. Matthews especially values the inquiry-based model for education in which students directly decide upon the questions they will investigate with the teacher acting as their guide.
Mr. Matthews came to Chengdu in 2014 where he has worked extensively in both private and public education including in the North American program here at Shi Shi as an Academic English teacher. He now brings with him several years of experience as an administrator in international programs as well as his passion for teaching and learning.
